Stephen Souky - Ways to Give Back

MHC professional Stephen Souky is proud to be a part of the Albany community, and to donate his time and energy towards its support in any way that he can. As one who regularly volunteers his time through Grace Fellowship, his local church, Souky understands just how powerful and beneficial it can be to give back to others; a highly rewarding activity for both the volunteer and for the people he/she is supporting.

As Stephen Souky knows, there are many ways an individual can choose to give back to the community. Several basic ways to show your support are provided below.

Youth Sports Team Sponsorship

If you have an interest in and/or considerable knowledge of a particular sport, there may be no more enjoyable way to volunteer your time than to a local youth sports team. Youth sports organizations provide young people a great chance to learn the values of teamwork, leadership, fair play and more, and chances are there are several organizations in your area seeking support as we speak.

Adopt a Road/Highway

Volunteering yourself and/or family to a section of roadway or highway cleanup, as Stephen Souky knows, is a simple and relatively easy way to do your part for your community.

Accounting professional and MHC Controller Stephen Souky is proficient in a number of accounting software programs, most notably Microsoft Dynamics GP. A longtime and knowledgeable user of the software, Souky understands how best to make the program work for both himself and for his company, helping to make him an even more valuable asset to his team, his firm and his profession.

As someone with a strong familiarity and knowledge of the Microsoft Dynamics GP software, Stephen Souky continues to find enormous benefit in being a member of the Dynamics Great Plains User Group, or GPUG, which serves to connect users of the software, those of disparate industries, fields and professions, with one another in the hopes of providing every user added insight into the best ways to use Dynamics GP for both themselves and their employers.

As a member of GPUG, Stephen Souky enjoys the chance to engage and network with both companies and individuals who utilize the Microsoft Dynamics GP software on a daily basis; to share knowledge, insight and feedback on their Dynamics GP experience with others throughout the country, if not the globe. This member-driven community continues to add value to GP users; to provide a high-quality source of knowledge and education to users in a highly-effective, one-on-one way. 

Souky is also proficient in such software as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Management Reporter, Crystal Reports, Forest & Trees, SQL, Hyperion and CSG. He is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Fredonia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in the year 1992.

Stephen Souky - Professional Team Leader

Every professional role ever held by accounting professional Stephen Souky has been in Senior Level Management, including such positions as Controller, his current position, as Senior Vice President, as Comptroller, Finance Director and more. Currently a senior level professional for MHC and Affiliates, Souky continues to continue tradition of providing high-quality management and leadership to a professional team; utilizing his significant level of skill and experience to help the company stay on track, and to consistently meet its financial objectives.

Stephen Souky, a graduate of SUNY College at Fredonia, formerly worked as a Comptroller for the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Services, managing a professional accounting team and providing expert management of the company’s financial reporting, accounts payable, budgeting, purchasing, payroll, fixed assets, grant accounting, debt obligations and more. He is also the former Director of Finance and HR for Endosoft, providing expert management of all company functions related to Accounting, Finance and Human Resources for over a year.

Stephen Souky has provided leadership to banking and financial industry teams in the past, and is proud of what he has consistently accomplished throughout a ten year career within the financial industry. He is also proud to have served such firms as KPMG and TM Byxbee Company, CPAs as a professional auditor in the past. 

Souky enjoys the opportunity to bring his significant accounting experience and expertise to the MHC team, and is hopeful to be an asset to the company for many years to come.

Stephen Souky’s Volunteering Record Formidable

Niskayuna native Stephen Souky has earned himself something of a reputation in the community as a consummate altruist. Stephen Souky volunteers all over the community in various capacities, and has been doing so for such a long time that he cannot even recall when he first started. In addition to his volunteer work in the community, Stephen Souky has been a youth basketball coach and administrator for a number of years, and also maintains an active role in his church, participating in church functions and church activities and staying active in the congregation. With such an active schedule, it is hard to picture Stephen Souky even having any time for himself, but he says it is not an issue.

Perhaps for people like Stephen Souky the volunteer work is its own reward. It certainly can start to seem that way, when one takes a look at all the various organizations and causes to which Stephen Souky has donated his time and energy over the years. Indeed, it begins to seem like volunteering itself must fulfill some kind of need for Stephen Souky. He says that volunteering does make him feel good, but if it were done solely for personal reasons it would feel almost selfish. Stephen Souky believes that the joy of helping others reciprocates itself inside him, and that it enriches his soul in a way that little else can. The same must be true for Stephen Souky’s relationship with his church, in which he is constantly getting involved in various capacities.

Stephen Souky Values His Coaching Experience

Long-time volunteer basketball coach Stephen Souky places a great deal of value in the time he has been lucky enough to spend coaching youth girls’ basketball. Stephen Souky has been coaching girls’ basketball for many of his 43 years, during which time he has had the privilege of coaching many different teams. Most recently, Stephen Souky has been named the President of the Niskayuna Girls Travel Basketball organization, and he has also founded and helped to organize a new AAU Girls Niskayuna Basketball squad. These new accomplishments have been like the capstone on a long and successful coaching and volunteer career for Stephen Souky, who values the time he has spent helping these girls focus and have fun.

According to Stephen Souky, one of the main reasons he values his coaching experience so much is that it has afforded him countless opportunities to influence the lives of great young people in both small and larger ways. Whether it be through leading by good example, or helping to diffuse conflict, Stephen Souky relishes the roles thrust upon him in his capacity as coach and organizer. Now, as President of the traveling organization, Stephen Souky faces an even more diverse set of challenges every day, and he appears to be more than up to the task. The increase in responsibility corresponds to an increase in satisfaction, he says.

In addition to his coaching and youth basketball admistration work, Stephen Souky enjoys volunteering around the community, and keeping an active role in his church.
